The Bunny
September 27, 1999
Dear Friends,
AMom, he=s back!@ My son=s voice echoed through the house. AHe is!?@ I came rushing into the living room. He was back. There . . . outside in the grass by the patio . . . contentedly munching up my grass, sat a little bunny rabbit with the cutest, fluffiest, white tail. All evening the bunny had hopped around our backyard - occasionally making a side trip under the fence unto a neighbor=s yard. Now, he was back.
Where did he come from? We had no idea. Why did he stay in our yard? We didn=t know, but one thing was certain - he was lost . . . So . . . Why did he seemed so content? . . . That=s what I wondered . . . Why wasn=t he worried, or afraid? That=s what I pondered . . . Why did he just sit there, in the yard, calmly eating the grass? As I watched him, I remembered that passage of scripture in Matthew=s gospel.
Matthew 6:26 NIV

O ye of little faith,@ says the Master as He reminds us of the provision which God makes for the animals and the flowers: He feed them; He clothes them. AThe Father knows you have need of these thing,@ Jesus says as he eloquently reassures us that we can count on God to do the same for us. If we seek Him and trust Him, God will provide for all of our needs - and not just minimally. He will Asupply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).@ In the words of that old hymn, AGod Will Take Care of You.@* * * * * * * * * * *
Last year was hot and dry. There was no grass in the backyard, at all. This year, the spring rains came and the grass grew deep and rich. (A. . . your heavenly father feeds them.@) The bunny dined sufficiently. (AAre you not much more valuable than they?@) . . . [Praise His Name] . . . The next time you feel lost and alone, or you find yourself worrying . . . just think about that little bunny . . . and know, beyond the a shadow of a doubt . . . God will provide.
In the Master=s Love,
The Preacher
