Horses and Giraffes

Dear Friends,
Connect A Dot 1*6 *3......................*4 *5................*2 |
When I was a child, my family often took long road trips. My mother, with foresight, would bring along games and activities (and water!) for my brother and me. One of these activities, "Connect-a-dot," would bring . . . oh . . . minutes of the peace and quiet my Mom sought. I was never a patient person . . . even as a child. So . . . Id try to guess what the final picture was . . . even before I got all the dots connected(!) . . . "I know what it is! I know what it is! It's a horse!"
Lets say . . . (continuing the analogy) . . . that as the Lord reveals "dots" of revelation in my life, . . . from what I can see of the picture it LOOKS like a horse . . . it has four legs! . . . So, I use my time and my resources to build a stable for my horse. ("Why wait on the Lord?," my attitude seems to say. I already know what it is!) But . . . how can we know the mind of God?
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than you ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8,9 KJV)."
Walking in faith is a little like connecting the dots. Day by day, the Lord reveals to us more of Himself and His plan for our lives. These revelations - "dots" - connect to form a pattern . . . combine to reveal a plan . . . a pathway. . . . Either we can wait patiently and let God show us the path or we can - guessing as to what it is - cut our owns paths . . . If we wait patiently, prayerfully on the Lord, He will make everything plain to us: We will know which way to go.
My analogy? My stable was too small. It was a giraffe . . . not a horse!
In the Masters Love,
The Preacher
