STAND STILL

September 4, 1998

Dear Friends,

The situation was dire . . . the Red Sea lay before them . . . Pharaoh’s men behind . . . the Children of Israel were in an impossible situation. If they forged ahead, they faced certain death. If they turned back, they faced death and bondage. . . . What should they do?

"And Moses said unto the people,

‘Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord,

which he will shew to you to day. . . .’"

(Exodus 14:13 KJV)

What should they do? Stand still. What could they do? Stand still. What did they do? They stood still, and the Lord moved in a mighty and miraculous way. The Lord told Moses to lift up his rod and stretch it out over the sea. Moses lifted his rod . . . a strong wind rose . . . the waters parted . . . the seabed dried out . . . and the Children of Israel cross over the Red Sea, on dry land. When Pharaoh and his army tried to follow, the waters shallowed them up and they perished. The Children of Israel were delivered by the hand of the Lord from an impossible situation.

Does your situation seem impossible? "Stand still" and behold how the Lord will save you.

In the Master’s Love,
